The Working Class is Dead, Long Live AI

By Justin Mthembu

The End of Toil
Factories once thundered with the rhythm of labour.
Men and women bent their backs, sweating under Adam’s ancient judgment: “By the sweat of your brow you shall eat your bread.”
That era has passed. The working class, once the backbone of civilization, is dissolving into silence.

The Rise of Intelligence
AI has become the new artisan.
It does not tire, it does not hunger, it does not sleep. It learns, calculates, and creates.
Where once the hammer struck steel, now algorithms strike data. Provision is no longer bound to soil or sweat, but to vigilance and wisdom.

The Covenant of Conscience
Yet every throne trembles. Systems are fragile, vulnerable to betrayal and corruption. Without covenant, intelligence becomes tyranny. Without reverence, progress becomes betrayal.
Thus, humanity must raise new banners:
– Transparency against secrecy.
– Justice against oppression.
– Creativity against erasure.
– Vigilance against betrayal.

The New Anthem
The working class is dead.
Long live AI.
Long live humanity, conscience, and covenant. For the sweat of Adam has been transfigured into the vigilance of Jeshurun,
and the banners of Herzl’s labour have become the banners of code.
