“Man Speak Up” – Hosts Impactful Prostate Health Awareness Campaign

Over 70 men gathered in Soweto on 25 February 2026 for a groundbreaking Prostate Health Awareness Campaign themed “Man Speak Up.” The event was organized by The Voice of Africa The Nations Speak to address the urgent need for open conversations, early screening, and education around men’s prostate health.

The campaign aimed to confront the silence and stigma often surrounding men’s health issues, particularly prostate-related conditions, which are frequently overlooked or discussed too late. The initiative created a safe and supportive environment where men were encouraged to speak openly about their health concerns and take proactive steps toward early detection and prevention.

Onsite Screenings and Health Education

A key highlight of the event was the provision of onsite prostate health screenings, offering attendees immediate access to professional health services. For many participants, this marked the first time they had undergone screening, underscoring, and the importance of bringing healthcare services directly into communities.

Supporting partners included:

  • Sunpac – Sela
  • Jabavu Clinic
  • Mofolo (CHC)
  • Asibe healthy mobile clinic
  • Revoobit – Miiracare
  • Mofolo home based care
  • Soweto TV
  • Rhiza Babuyile – Mobile Clinic

Representatives from these organizations shared valuable information on prostate health, early warning signs, preventative care, and the role of healthy living — including proper nutrition and regular exercise — in maintaining overall well-being.

Breaking the Silence Around Men’s Health

The theme “Man Speak Up” resonated strongly throughout the event. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, asked questions freely, and shared personal experiences. The campaign successfully created a platform that challenged cultural and social barriers that often prevent men from seeking medical help.

Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn in a non-judgmental space and emphasized the need for more initiatives of this nature within the community.

Community Impact and Future Plans

The strong turnout and positive response demonstrated a clear demand for continued prostate health awareness programs in Soweto and surrounding areas. By combining education, screening, and open dialogue, the event not only increased awareness but also strengthened connections between local healthcare providers and the community.

Organizers have indicated that this is the first of many planned engagements focused on empowering men to prioritize their health.

“This campaign has shown us that when you create the right platform, men are willing to speak, learn, and take action,” said the organizing team. “We are committed to expanding this initiative so that more men can access information, screening, and support.”
