Corporate bullying is set to take centre stage at the upcoming Bullying and Harassment Summit on 29 May 2026 at the Protea Sandton Hotel, Johannesburg. As organisations continue to face public scrutiny and urged to confront the growing impact of toxic workplace behaviours on employee wellbeing
and business performance, the summit could not have been hosted on a more opportune time.
Recent research highlights the urgency of the issue: approximately 70% of employees who experience workplace bullying ultimately leave their jobs. Notably, 68% of reported victims are female employees, often bullied by other women in positions of authority—underscoring the complex dynamics of power, leadership, and organisational culture.
While some organisations have made progress in implementing policies to prevent and manage workplace bullying, many continue to struggle with effective enforcement and meaningful cultural change. In many instances, policies exist but are not translated into everyday leadership practice.
Toto Geza, Executive Chairman Organizing Committee, emphasises that addressing
workplace bullying requires a deliberate and sustained approach.
―Organisations must move beyond compliance and commit to building cultures grounded in dignity, respect, and accountability. Anti-bullying policies are essential, but they must be supported by consistent leadership behaviour, training, and awareness,‖ said Toto Geza.
Employers are encouraged to prioritise the development and implementation of clear, enforceable anti-bullying policies, alongside on-going training and awareness programmes for both employees and management. Leadership accountability remains central to fostering psychologically safe and respectful workplaces.
Corporate bullying is not only a human resources issue—it is a strategic risk that affects employee retention, productivity, and organisational reputation. As the conversation gains momentum, business leaders are called upon to reflect critically: are their organisations truly safe and inclusive, or merely compliant on paper?
Speakers: Include experts in Employment law, Strategic HR, employee wellness, and ethical leadership. The summit has an international flavour with speakers from the continent and North America.
