REGULATOR TO HOST INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR UNIVERSAL ACCESS TO INFORMATION DIALOGUE IN KZN CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF PAIA
The Information Regulator (Regulator) will host the Reform to Information Law Dialogue on 29 September 2025 in Durban KwaZulu-Natal as part of the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) commemorative events. This year’s programme will seek to advance the efforts to amending the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) and ensuring it is fit for purpose in the digital environment, whilst also reflecting on the 25 years since it was brought into effect and assess what has worked and tap into areas for improvement so to strengthen the constitutional right of access to information.
The IDUAI, is observed annually on 28 September, and the local theme for this year is “Reflecting on 25 years of the Access to Information Law and making it fit for purpose in the Digital age”, which coincides with the global theme and the current events in the country.
